A?fob?is an adornment or a seal that hangs from the ribbon or chain of a pocket watch. Its purpose is to decorate or add weight to the watch chain itself, making it easier for the watch to be withdrawn from a pocket.

An unusual horse leg?fob?pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This unique 14kt gold piece forms the shape of a 3-dimensional horse's leg in mid-trot. The design is is highly detailed,?including a horseshoe on the base of the hoof, and subtle texture representing its fine, smooth hair. The top?of the horse leg?holds a smooth, bezel set bloodstone?seal, which displays a beautiful forest green color flecked with orange specks. At?the horse's knee?is a gold?loop and bail, allowing it to hang on a tilt. A very rare and striking equestrian piece, this fob would look wonderful worn on a favorite gold chain, and would be perfect for the Victorian horse collector!

Measurements: The fob hangs approximately 1 1/4" long (including the bail). The bent horse leg itself?measures approximately 1 1/4" long (from the hoof to the top of the leg), and is 1/4" at the thickest point.

Condition: The overall condition of the fob is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold?setting or bloodstone seal, and the ring for hanging?is secure and intact.
